A missing couple from British Columbia may have been spotted at a Carson City gas station, according to an official Tuesday.
Carson Sheriff's Capt. Ken Sandage said a man reported to police he was getting gas at the AM/PM on North Carson Street on Monday when a brown Chevy Astro Van pulled up to the pump in front of him.
"He said he watched a woman get out of the vehicle, walk around and get back in and that she stared at him, continuously, the whole time he was pumping his gas. He thought it was strange for her to stare at him and remembered it," said Sandage. The witness said he last saw the vehicle as it left the gas station and drove south on Carson Street.
Later that evening while the man was watching the 6:30 p.m. news at home, he saw the report of the missing couple from Canada.
"He swears that it was the same van, and that was the woman," said Sandage.
Royal Canadian Mounted Police are asking the public's help in locating Albert and Rita Chretien who were driving a 2000 Chevrolet Astro van with British Columbia plates 212-CAV to a convention in Las Vegas.
The couple's children grew concerned after the pair did not return last week between Monday and Wednesday from their trip to Las Vegas as planned.
Family members are very concerned and note that their parents failing to show for the planned attendance at a trade show and convention is out of the ordinary.
