Obituary: Kristine June Rensing

Kristine June Rensing, "you never ask a lady for her age". (90 Shhhhh)

Lovingly known by many as "Nana", passed away March 14, 2011.

Per her request, no funeral service will be held, but a celebration of her life and awesomeness will be held 5-10 p.m. Friday, April 1 at our dear friend Robyn's home, 2573 Spring flower, Reno, NV 89521. She was born in Los Angeles to daughter of Samuel and Christine Freels. While growing up as a "California Girl," Kristine enjoyed sunny days at Newport Beach and Balboa. She was an accomplished pianist and dress designer, the latter being her major in college. She lived and worked in the L.A. area with her husband and her daughter Janet Carol, aka "Cindy." Kristine escaped the hustle and bustle of Southern California and moved to Northern Nevada in the early '60s. Kristine's proudest work accomplishment was working for the Nevada State Fire Marshal. She worked for the state 20 years, before retiring. Her interests included playing piano, hosting fabulous social events, sewing, and much more. Her most treasured moments were times she spent with her beautiful great-granddaughter Abigail. I'm not gonna lie, Nana really loved me a lot too. Kristine stayed very active throughout her entire life, whether it was going to a Reno Aces Baseball game, heading out on the town for a dinner and show, or shopping at a local venue, she enjoyed and did it all. Mrs. Rensing is survived by her daughter Janet Carol Drayer, granddaughter Jamie Jennifer Clark, and great-granddaughter Abigail Kaplan. Nana will be remembered by all for her amazing sense of humor, loud belly laughs, and hilarious antics.

Her massive collection of sunglasses, some of which may have been previously "lost" by her friends and family, will be legendary. Eyebrows, pink lipstick, sunglasses, classy fingers, shampoo Mohawks, Red Robin fish-n-chips, slippers ... (Abby I love you for this, and so did Nana), four-hour Walmart/Target trips, green Jello surprise, cakes, hazelnut coffee, small dogs and so much more ... Nana we will NEVER stop missing you with ALL of our hearts.
