Bee-tree: A prosperous citizen in Sierra Valley came across a large "bee-tree" with an apparent huge stock of honey. The wise hunter took good care to keep the location to himself and later came back with a hired man, axes, buckets, etc. and commenced operations on the monster pine. After half a day of hard labor brought it to the ground. His disgust was huge when he discovered there was no honey and the bees proved to be yellow jackets.

Christmas Fair: The 13th annual Christmas Fair, sponsored by the Nevada Appeal and the Carson City Chamber of Commerce will be held at Carson Junior High on West King Street. The fair features booths and displays by more than 50 Carson City area merchants. Santa Claus will be on hand to listen to Christmas wishes after his arrival in a fire truck.

More Nevada grandparents are raising their children's children according to a new census. Nevada's numbers are slightly higher. The survey shows 43 percent, or 18,856 of the state's 41,206 grandparents living in households with children claim responsibility for the children.
