George J. Stuhlmiller, 81, of Carson City, NV, passed away on Saturday, October 25, 2014 at Renown Hospital, in Reno, NV from complications of a fall. He was born on September 14, 1933, to George and Anna (Kraus) Stuhlmiller in Hancock, NY. George graduated from Newark Valley central High School in 1951. He worked on the family dairy farm in Richford, NY for 20 years and drove truck. In his spare time he built his own home. In the late 1960’s, George raced stockcars on a dirt track. his car was #82 with a hand-painted picture of Snoopy on the door panel. In 1968, he married Thelma Phillips (Therialt) at St. John’s Roman catholic Church in Newark Valley, NY. In 1970, they moved to Los Angeles, CA where he worked as a plumber for USC. To this union three children were born: Derek James (deceased at age 10), Kimberly Ann, and Kristopher George. In 1979, the family moved to Carson City, NV. George became a general contractor and also worked as a plumber in Carson City for 33 years. George divorced in 1992 and later met his companion, Cynthia McConnell in the fall of 2004. They shared 10 years together. George was an avid reader of Louis L’Amoure books, watching T.V, western movies with John Wayne, Nascar Racing, and football games. He enjoyed gardening and puttering around in the garage fixing and making things. George visited the Friends of the Carson Library often. George is survived by his sister, Emilie Stuhlmiller, and brother, Robert Stuhlmiller of Richford, NY; daughter, Kimberly Stuhlmiller (Lance Schlotterbeck) and son, Kristopher (Nikky) of Carson City. George had 8 grandchildren: Kenny Jr, Taralee, Timothy, and twins, Savannah and Logan; Orion Birdsell, Isaac Stuhlmiller and Aiden Stuhlmiller. George is also survived by his companion, Cynthia McConnell. At George’s request, no celebration of life or funeral will be held.
