Rosen announces grants for underserved populations

U.S. Sen. Jacky Rosen, D-Nev., on Thursday announced grants totaling $55.5 million to address COVID-19 disparities among high risk and underserved populations.
“Access to quality health care is not only critical to the health of an individual and the larger community but essential to our nation’s recovery efforts,” Rosen said.
She said tribal and rural communities and other underserved groups have been disproportionately affected by the pandemic.
She said these grants will help ensure health care is available to all across Nevada.
The funding comes from the Department of Health and Human Services and more than half the total — $32.29 million, will go directly to the Nevada Department of Health and Human Services.
A total of $600,000 will go to UNR and Southern Nevada Health District will receive $22.6 million.
