After reaching the playoffs for the third-straight season, the Greenwave football team was well represented on the all-region and all-league teams as announced by the Northern 3A coaches.
Fallon landed eight players on the all-region team and 18 on the 3A East all-league team after the Greenwave advanced to the postseason, scored a major upset of the only undefeated team (North Valleys) in the region before losing to the eventual state champion (Moapa Valley) in the semifinals. In his only season starting at quarterback, senior Keaton Williams was named as the Northern 3A region’s Offensive Player of the Year.
Williams, who shared 3A East all-league Most Valuable Player honors with Elko’s Eli Finlayson, led the Greenwave offense both with his arm and his legs, especially late in the season as Fallon nabbed the league’s No. 2 seed for the playoffs. Williams finished with a league-leading 1,334 passing yards on 79-of-132 completions and 17 touchdowns. He led the team in rushing with 458 yards on 67 carries, including four touchdowns.
Seniors Tyler Austin (wide receiver), Damein Towne (offensive line), Jace Nelson (defensive line), Xavier Capton (linebacker) and Reese Kincaid (defensive back) were named to both the all-3A East league and all-region first team. Garrett Jarschke (offensive line) and Sean Reeder (defensive line) were selected to the all-region second team, but both were named to the all-league first team.
Austin was Williams’ favorite target as he led the team with 551 yards on 29 receptions, including seven touchdowns. Capton led the team in tackles with 97 total, including 77 solos and five for loss. Kincaid shined with five interceptions and was fourth on the team with 68 total tackles.
Towne and Jarschke, both seniors, anchored the offensive line that led to Fallon’s 1,974 yards on the ground and kept Williams protected in the pocket. Conversely, Nelson and Reeder held down the defensive front with Nelson leading the team with six sacks, four hurries and three fumble recoveries. Reeder registered one sack.
Steven Moon (wide receiver), Ethan Tarner (tight end), Alain Barerra (offensive line), Rolland Grondin (athlete), Daimon Anderson (defensive line) and Tristan Hill (defensive back) were named to the all-3A East second team. Kincaid (wide receiver), Kade Kreller (offensive line), Daneil Quezada (defensive line) and Francisco Tapia (defensive back) were named all-league honorable mention.
North Valleys’ Anthony Doucette was named the region’s Coach of the Year and his senior quarterback, Cameron Zeidler, was named the MVP. North Valleys’ Caleb Mang was named the Defensive Player of the Year and Fernley’s Tyler Slaughter picked up Lineman of the Year honors.
Elko’s Luke Sellers, who led the Indians to an undefeated 3A East season and berth in the state playoffs, was named the league’s Coach of the Year. Lowry’s Giovani Saien (Offensive Player of the Year), Elko’s Andoni Fesenmaier (Defensive Player of the Year) and Fernley’s Slaughter (Lineman of the Year) earned the league’s highest honors.
Fallon’s Damein Towne was named to the all-region’s first team for his work on the offensive line that led to the Greenwave rushing for more than 1,900 yards.
