Carson High School football couldn’t have put together a more complete performance against Galena Friday night.
On the freshly install new turf field, the Senators lit up the Grizzlies en route to a 48-0 win.
It marked the first win of the season for Carson, which did nearly everything right all night long.
Carson’s first drive found pay dirt as quarterback Vinny Ferretti floated a perfect pass to an uncovered Mack Chambers, who walked into the end zone.
Ferretti ended the evening 8-of-13 with 184 yards and two touchdown passes.
His final touchdown toss came in the second half on a 38-yard completion to Lucas Gonzalez.
Gonzalez caught a second touchdown pass to close out the contest.
After going up 7-0 inside of the first three minutes of action, Carson’s Denton Fitzpatrick stepped in front of a wayward pass and took it 30 yards back to the house.
With 8:05 left in the opening quarter, the Senators had already established a 13-0 lead.
On their second offensive series, Carson went 65 yards on seven plays.
Ferretti found Parker Story on a 34-yard completion down the home sideline that took the Senators down to the 1.
On the next play, Ben Heaton bulldozed in his first of two rushing touchdowns.
His second put Carson up 41-0 after a 30-yard touchdown run early in the second half.
He ended the evening with three carries for 33 yards and two touchdowns. Heaton also posted eight tackles.
Linebacker Ionae Tuia led the team with nine tackles.
Danny McKee and Eric Hickson were also able to record interceptions for Carson in the win.
The Senators defense limited the Grizzlies to 51 yards passing, completing just 6-of-22 attempts.
On the ground, Galena managed 37 rushing yards.
